100.000: Morgue Vanguard

Jakarta, 07.12.21

contemporary jazz noise experimental hip hop sludge

In 2011, Morgue Vanguard (Herry Sutresna of Bandung’s Homicide) and DJ Still (Hsi Chang-Lin, formerly of NYC’s Dälek), both legends of underground hip-hop, connected and became friends. Their talk of a collaborative EP soon turned into an LP and the full-length Fateh was released in 2014. In the years prior to the album, the two shared music, expanding each others boundaries and tastes. This mix consists of tracks from these sharing sessions, put together to coincide with the release of the Fateh remix/reinterpretation album, Iqlab.

Iqlab came about from conversations between Morgue Vanguard and JRF of 100.000 & Public Guilt, after the untimely passing of DJ Still in 2018. Indonesia’s Grimloc Records took charge and Iqlab was released on 27 November, 2021. It features remixes from former Still collaborators Strotter Inst., BKGD Audio (Alap Momin), and Mike Mare, alongside Senyawa, DJ Evil Cutz, Efek Rumah Kaca, Kuntari, and a host of other artists. The first pressing of 1500 CDs sold out in three days and a second pressing is underway. For more info on this release please visit @grimlocrecords on instagram.
