Live now
Fifth episode of the radio show *The Garden Overflowed by Bogotá-based DJ and curator Aguirre, where he invites sound explorers focused on the abundance of sounds and influences that permeate the Colombian experience. For this edition, he invites Bogotá-born downtempo, IDM, and trip-hop producer Rosarito 1/2. A constant presence in the capital's nightlife scene, he recently embarked on his journey as a producer, making an impact with his distinctive approach to live electronic performance. In addition, he has been a selector of electronic rarities for several years now, blending ambient, club music, and boleros that always carry an emotional intensity palpable in his music.
In the second hour, Aguirre presents a minimalist selection of ambient, dubby, and spatial techno—sounds that have been gaining interest within certain circles in the city.
Episode 5: Aguirre invites Rosarito 1/2
Specialization is the death of curiosity. The latter is the foundation of a transcendent artistic practice and represents my only true wisdom. The dream of a non-arbitrary world—that is, a vast world not diminished by the excess of its labels—springs from the same waters where the garden turns wild and becomes a jungle once again. I like to think of myself as part of a musical reality in which root and fruit meet and are one and the same; in other words, where there is neither before nor after, where the presence of the past slowly crystallizes in our productions, which are often obsessed with calling themselves of the future (or made for it).
I drink without fear from all waters, and on this occasion I present for "The Garden Overflowed" by Aguirre on Internet Public Radio a fragment of a long and liquid songbook I’ve been collecting for the past 23 years. A songbook, above all, free from the fears brought by labeling and identification—a selection ready to spill slowly and freely as it accompanies us.
To the ears that hear in this range of songs that make no nod to the many sonic dictatorships out there: welcome.
